Best Golfing Towns in Mexico

Looking to go on a golf vacation in Mexico, but not sure which town or resort offers the best experience? It’s a tough choice we admit. Here’s our roundup of the best golfing towns in Mexico, based on the golf courses, prices, and other tourism options (to appease any tag-alongs.)

Puerto Vallarta: This town has to be on the list just for the 36 amazing holes at Vista Vallarta Club de Golf. Spread across almost 500 acres, one of the courses was designed by Jack Nicklaus, the other by Tom Weiskopf. It may not have the same coastline views as some of the other resort locations, but it has some of the best mountain views and lake features we’ve seen on any golf course anywhere. Looking to take in a third course? We’ve heard Vidanta Golf Nayar to the north is a great option close to the beach.

Los Cabos: Much like Puerto Vallarta, this town has it all. It’s affordable, known as a great resort and tourist town outside of golf, and it’s on the more reasonable side for price. For both quality and quantity of golf courses, Los Cabos is world-class. You can go from Cabo del Sol to El Dorado Golf and Beach Club to Querencia Golf Club to Chileno Bay Golf and Beach Club and by the time your golf vacation is over, the worst best part will be trying to choose favorites.

Cabo San Lucas: This is a top destination for golf plus resort vacations. Diamante has two different championship golf courses that play second fiddle to no one. Quivira will redefine what a creative and visually stunning golf course design can be. This town is known for being a little pricier than the others on this list, but it has the surrounding amenities and beach resort vibe to back it up.

Mexico City: It’s easy to think that all the great golf courses in Mexico are going to be clustered along the coast in luxury resort towns, and for the most part, that’s an accurate picture. Mexico City, however, is one big exception. Most out-of-towners hit the golf courses while in town for business or tourism, but you can also go there just for the golf. In a metropolitan area with 9 million people, you could spend a full week there and golf everyday. We recommend Club de Golf Campestra (Mexico City), Club de Golf La Hacienda, and Club de Golf Vallescondido.
